Art Philosophy

The Philosophy Behind My Works I do not approach art as a carpenter approaches the making of a cabinet — following a precise plan toward a predetermined result. Although the works employ painterly realism in their depiction, their subjects belong to worlds that exist only in imagination. Perspective and spatial construction are used deliberately to heighten the visual experience and guide the viewer’s gaze. Each completed work is to be regarded as it presents itself — an aesthetic visualization intended for contemplation and enjoyment. The title serves a deliberate role, providing the conceptual framework through which the piece is meant to be understood. Interpretations that stray too far from this context drift away from the intended meaning. While my artworks may possess significant artistic value, it is not their ultimate purpose. Th...

Intensified realism

Figurative art at the threshold of intensified realism.   Intensified Realism : a painting style where perspective is adjusted to the artwork’s viewing height, so that the scene appears realistic and immersive in its physical setting rather than only in photographs — historically related to practices sometimes described as anamorphic or adjusted perspective . The term was introduced by artist Tapio Vuorinen as a clearer way to describe his own approach. The works based on that are presented on his Saatchi Art Finland profile . Some adjustments are still being made to this artwork (lust) on Saatchi Art Finland to better showcase the painting in image form. A new image will be published later this year, after which the current version will no longer be available on the print service.
